If you have only one week to spend in South Africa, this itinerary shows you the best, Anytime spent there is quality time and we think we have found a great sampler here. And at an excellent value, with airfare from the US included!
Spend four nights at the trendy Cullinan Hotel in Cape Town. Spend a full day touring Cape Peninsula, visit the Cape of Good Hope, the meeting of two might oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian. See the Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach, and finally visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, home to some 3500 species of Southern African fauna and flora. And that's just your first day! Your next day will find you in the Winelands north of Cape Town, with stops for wine tastings at several vineyards, possibly Nelsons Creek Estate, Paarl, Franschoek or Stellenbosch. You will see the lovely Cape Dutch architecture of the villages. The countryside reminds some of Switzerland!
The last three nights are spent in the famous Thornybush Game Reserve, which lies adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park. Here you will experience exclusive safari adventures in both open Land Rovers, and on foot. The private reserve is home to an abundance of species including the "Big Five".
